David M. Roberts

Vice President, Athletic Compliance

David M. Roberts was appointed vice president for athletic compliance in August 2010, and is responsible for administering and managing all aspects of USC’s athletic compliance program. Roberts and his team in the Athletic Compliance Office work closely with the director of athletics and his staff to ensure the university’s compliance program with NCAA, PAC-12 and university rules and regulations.

Prior to joining USC, Roberts was a partner with Paul, Hastings, Janofsy & Walker in Los Angeles, and later the founding and managing partner of Roberts, Raspe & Blanton LLP. Roberts has practiced law as a litigator in complex commercial cases in Southern California for more than 30 years. He is admitted to practice before the courts of the State of California, the Federal District Courts in California, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Roberts received his B.A. in history from the University of California, Davis, in 1973, and his J.D. from the University of Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in 1976. While at UC Davis, he was named to the Coach’s Kodak Small-College All-America Football Team in 1972.
