Associate Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Janis B. McEldowney was named associate senior vice president in 2002, serving as the university’s chief human resources officer and overseeing the following departments: Human Resources Administration, which advises supervisors and department-level human resources representatives on matters of university employment policy, best practices and regulatory compliance; Policy Development and Communications, which facilitates the development and communication of all university policies to the workforce; the Office of Equity and Diversity, which investigates complaints by faculty, staff and students who believe themselves to be harmed by unfair treatment, sexual harassment, discrimination and harassment related to issues that have protected class status; the Employee Relations Office, which facilitates dispute resolution for workplace complaints brought forward by staff employees; Benefits Administration, which is responsible for benefits enrollment and counseling for faculty and staff; Retirement Plan Administration, which oversees administration of retirement plans for active and former employees; and the Center for Work and Family Life, which provides counseling and consultation services to faculty and staff.
McEldowney has worked with the university since 1979, serving in a variety of operational, administrative support and advisory roles. She has a master of business administration degree and a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and English, both from the University of Southern California.
