Associate Senior Vice President, Human Resources
Janis B. McEldowney was named associate senior vice president in 2002, serving as the university’s chief human resources officer. She is responsible for and oversees a wide range of employment programs, support services and functions, including human resources administration, consulting and support services; technical support for HR information systems, including training, quality assurance and process improvement initiatives; development of and monitoring compliance with employment regulations, policies and practices; employee benefit, compensation and leave plan design and program administration; staff talent acquisition, performance management and learning programs; employee communications; policy development and communications; employee assistance, counseling and management consultation programs; staff employee relations; coordination of regulatory compliance related to protected class categories and related complaints; and investigations into threats of violence in the workplace.
McEldowney has worked at USC since 1979, serving in a variety of operational, administrative support and advisory roles. She holds a master of business administration degree and a bachelor of arts degree in philosophy and English, both from the University of Southern California.
