Senior Vice President and Chief Communications Officer

Glenn Osaki was appointed senior vice president and chief communications officer in June 2019. With more than three decades of experience in strategic communications, most recently as president, Asia-Pacific, of Publicis Groupe’s MSL, a global public relations agency, Osaki has built a career on high ethical standards, perceptive outreach, and innovative team-building.

Serving as the university’s principal spokesperson, Osaki shapes and leads the communications strategy for the University of Southern California, working closely with communications officers across both campuses along with with his team in University Communications. In this capacity, Osaki is charged with developing a strategic communications plan that will position USC both nationally and internationally, promoting the excellent work of the Trojan community – from the cutting-edge research and creative teaching of our world-class faculty to the scholarly, athletic, and personal achievements of our students, staff, alumni, and local community. Osaki also oversees the Cultural Relations and University Events office, as well as all in-house communications activities.

During his 32-year career at MSL, Osaki rose to the top ranks of the public relations industry, becoming a key adviser to major corporate clients, such as Procter & Gamble, Volkswagen Group, Netflix, and Coca-Cola. He led MSL’s Asia-Pacific operations through a period of explosive growth, from a 15-person agency to a network with nearly 1,500 employees in 41 offices across the region. He has received numerous honors for his work, including being named “PR Agency Head of the Year” by Campaign Asia and “Outstanding Individual Achievement” from the Holmes Report for his career in public relations in the U.S. and Asia.

Osaki holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and communications from University of California, San Diego and a master’s degree in public relations from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism and currently serves on the Annenberg Center for Public Relations Board of Advisors.
